After a massive makeover, the Eastside’s historic Echo Park Lake has finally become a family-friendly destination worthy of its bold backdrop: the Downtown skyline amid the lotus flower blooms and fountains.
- You can push your way through the lake in a pedal boat (including a swan boat) or stroll around the path that hugs its borders.
- Make sure to stop at the revived boathouse (and its breakfast pit stop Beacon) and the Lady of the Lake statue.
- Young kids might not be able to pedal the boat.

“The lake is really pretty and filled with lotus and other plants. The fountain is also a nice touch. There’s a coffee stand at one corner as well as a lady selling chips, soda and other food. Throughout the park, you will see graffiti and some people from the homeless community, but neither posed any issues. Boat rentals are $11/hour for adults and $6/hour for kids.” – Shelby S.
“Parking is street parking only, which is the only negative, because it can be limited (especially on weekends or when there are special events going on), BUT if you can snag a spot — it’s free! There’s a well-paved sidewalk that encircles the lake, and on this path you’ll find runners, families with their kids, and people walking their dogs.” – Punya N.
