Birch Aquarium at Scripps is the public exploration center for the world-renowned Scripps Institution of Oceanography at University of California San Diego. Perched on a bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean, Birch Aquarium features more than 60 habitats of fishes and invertebrates from the cold waters of the Pacific Northwest to the tropical waters of Mexico and beyond. An oceanographic museum showcases research discoveries by Scripps Oceanography scientists on climate, earth, and ocean science and includes interactive elements.

OPEN July 1 for members, July 4 for the general public. All staff and guests (2 years and older) will be required to wear a face covering over your nose and mouth per local ordinance and CDC guidelines. All families or groups must maintain 6 foot distancing at all times from staff and other guests. Adults will be responsible for ensuring children follow this rule. Limiting the daily visitor capacity so there are fewer guests at one time.
