Experienced Dad in need of help.
As a father of 3 who is about to complete his 8th Father’s Day, you’d think I would have figured out by now how to best enjoy this annual dad-centric celebration. But the sad fact is I’m just as clueless as a newbie who is gearing up to celebrate his very first one.
What should we do for Father’s Day?
Figuring out what to do on Father’s Day is hard. Mother’s Day has brunch written all over it. Throw in some flowers and kid-made card, and you’re all set. But the same isn’t true for celebrating dads. There are so many different directions you can go related to typical dad interests such as sports, cars, and beer. But what’s even going on this year, and what do I personally think would be cool for me and my family?
I know! A poll!
At Dadventures we help connect dads and their families to great experiences. We find the best events happening all over LA and share them on our website, email newsletter, and our new subscription service.
So for our very first Father’s Day, we hand-picked the coolest events happening and asked users (Dads and Moms) what they were most interested in doing.
Dodgers all the way!
The boys in blue are off to a great start this season, so they’re definitely a big draw. Throw in the chance to get onto the field and play catch with your kid, and BOOM, there’s your winner.
Train Ride + BBQ comes in a super close second!
If there’s one thing we’ve learned in sharing event recommendations for the past few months, it’s this: LA parents love vehicles. Whether it’s trains, trucks, boats, or planes, our users love things that move. So it’s no surprise that this Father’s Day ride and BBQ lunch nearly took the top spot.
Chalk Festival and Tall Ships come in third…depending on who you ask.
The Chalk Festival in Pasadena features incredible artists creating great artwork right in front of your eyes, and this appealed strongly to Moms, who voted this as their second most-popular event. Dads on the other hand were drawn to the ocean, selecting the Tall Ship sea adventure as their third most popular pick.
Last Place Finish.
With tragic stories involving horse deaths continuing to plague Santa Anita Park, it’s no surprise that this destination ended up at the bottom of this year’s list.
Go enjoy LA with your kids!
Whether you decide to go do one of these popular choices, visit some of the best places in LA, or go somewhere else, I hope you spend the day with those you love and enjoy this great place we call home.
