Lunar New Year in the Bay Area

Lunar New Year (SF)

January 25 marks the beginning of the Year of the Rat on the Chinese Lunar Calendar. Families engage in customs that bring good luck, good fortune, wealth, prosperity, and happiness. They celebrate with dragon dances, lion dances, gift exchanging and fireworks. From museum celebrations to city-wide festivals, we’ve created a list of Lunar New Year celebrations taking place January 31st-February 17th for kids and families in the San Francisco Bay Area to encourage you to take part in a special holiday.
